Plans for dozens of new pitches at a coastal caravan park have been given the go-ahead, despite concerns it will impact neighbours.

Incleboro Fields Caravan and Motorhome Club, a 21-acre site in West Runton, has been given permission for 48 new pitches, as well as a new play area and motor van waste point.

Councillors at North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) approved the scheme despite concerns from the local councillor.

Speaking at a planning committee, Sarah Bütikofer, councillor for the Runton’s, said it was a “huge” caravan park for such a small village, arguing the current 241 pitches were “already almost as many homes as there are in the village”.

She said visitors to the site were already forced to queue because there is a narrow access, causing traffic chaos along the road, which could get worse.

Ms Bütikofer has also said the application sits on a “geologically important cliff shelf” which the scheme could damage it.

However, Angie Fitch-Tillet, an independent councillor, offered her support for the scheme, saying it was “well sited within the landscape” and a “lovely site”.

It was approved 12 votes for and one against.
