Work to reduce the amount of odour pollution from a poultry factory in Attleborough is expected to start shortly.

Owners of Banham Poultry will be replacing the existing ventilation infrastructure and increasesing the odour scrubbing capacity at its Norfolk-based production hub.

The work will cost ÂŁ500,000 and is hoped will benefit nearby residents when it's complete in the late spring.

Managing Director of Banham Boultry, Blaine Van Rensburg, who purchased the business in 2018, said: "This significant programme of improvements to totally transform our Attleborough plant will make it one of the most modern in the sector.

"The work is not only enhance the facility, which I’m sorry to say had previously suffered from years of under investment, it will also benefit those living in close proximity to our site by reducing both noise and odour emissions."

The site of the factory was only meant to be temporary following a fire at the orginal location on the outskirts of the town in 1998.

Mr Van Rensbury added: "We are fully committed to reducing our impact as much as possible and, over the coming months, this work will help us achieve this."
