Norwich Norfolk Conservative MP Chloe Smith has returned to government as part of a shakeup prompted by the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab.
Raab has also stepped down as Justice Secretary after an inquiry found he acted in an 'intimidating' and 'aggressive' way with officials in behaviour that could have amounted to bullying.
Adam Tolley KC's investigation published on Friday concluded Mr Raab engaged in an "abuse or misuse of power" that "undermines or humiliates" while foreign secretary.
Smith, who was on the backbenches having previously served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, will take on the role of Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology.
She was seen as a key ally of fellow Norfolk MP Liz Truss during her short lived premiership. She had previously worked in the Department for Work and Pensions under Boris Johnson and the Northern Ireland Office under Theresa May
Smith won the Norwich North seat from Labour's Ian Gibson in 2009.
