Norwich man jailed for serious assault
He left another man needing hospital treatment
A 36-year-old Norwich man who repeatedly stamped and kicked another man in the head has been sentenced to more than three years imprisonment.
Luke Elfleet, of Aylsham Road, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday (22 April 2021) where he was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.
It follows an incident at a multi-occupancy address in Aylsham Road, Norwich, which happened on Friday 3 January last year.
The court heard that around 8.30pm that night, Elfleet went to the victim's room and knocked on the door. As the door opened Elfleet has punched the victim who fell to the floor where the attack continued. He stamped and kicked the victim's head more than 10 times breaking his jaw.
The victim, aged 37, needed hospital treatment and had screws and a metal plate put into his jaw.
Police were called by another resident and enquiries led to officers arresting Elfleet a few hours after the attack happened.
Elfleet was later charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm which he denied, but later changed his plea to guilty.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Stuart Sansbury said:
"This was a nasty assault which left the victim with a broken jaw and his injuries have also affected his hearing. In his police interview, Elfleet went no comment to all questions however the evidence obtained from witnesses and forensics was sufficient to secure this successful prosecution."
