Firefighters extinguish large fire in derelict building on outskirts of Norwich

Norfolk Fire and Rescue tells us its teams worked into the early hours to get the fire under control and extinguished

Firefighters have managed to put out a large fire in a derelict building on the outskirts of Norwich.

Crews from Sprowston, Carrow, Earlham, Hethersett, Wroxham, Long Stratton, Acle, Reepham, Dereham, Great Yarmouth, Loddon, Wymondham, Fakenham, North Walsham, Attleborough, Stalham and Watton were called to Dibden Road at 5:40pm last night (20th January).

Also in attendance were a control unit, water carrier and Aerial Ladder Platforms from Great Yarmouth and Earlham.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue tells us its teams worked into the early hours to get the fire under control and extinguished.

Two crews, from Mundesley and Sheringham, remain at the scene this morning to continue checking for reignition and hotspots.

It's not yet known what caused the fire.
