A group of local female cyclists are raising awareness about safer streets and better infrastructure in Norwich.

They'll be doing this 'Glow Ride' in the City Centre between 7 and 8pm, with the help of brightly lit and coloured bikes.

Communities across the UK will be taking part in this as part of the campaign My ride. Our right.

These rides are women-led, but open to everyone. It's part of nationwide movement which aims to show that cycling should be safe, accessible and visible all year round.

"It's all about taking that into account when you're designing stuff like this"

Fern is from 'Kidicale Mass Norwich' and is one of the event's organisers:

"A lot of roads and cycleways are designed with men in mind. Generally speaking, men tend to take more direct routes and traditionally women tend to take more complex routes, that might involve dropping the kids off and doing a few errands. It's all about taking that into account when you're designing stuff like this".

Kitty Cresswell Riol is from Norwich Cycling Campaign and has also help put this together

"We're looking into potentially putting in place a safety audit for women. A few months ago, they did one of these in London and they found that a quarter of the infrastructure wasn't safe for women".
