Norwich City head-coach urges players to be 'proactive' in first game
The Canaries start their championship season against Millwall at Carrow Road from 3pm on Saturday
Norwich City's head-coach is calling on his players to be proactive and give everything- in tomorrow's curtain-raiser.
Liam Manning takes charge of his first league game since taking the role in June, on Saturday.
The Canaries start their championship season against Millwall at Carrow Road from 3pm.
After this, Norwich face Watford in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night- before travelling to Portsmouth for their second league game.
"We are a little bit heavy numbers-wise"
The Canaries gaffer says he's very happy with the summer business:
"For the lads coming into the club, if you can get them in and settled into a house or apartment a few weeks ahead of the season, that can only be a good thing.
"They can then focus on being the best version of themselves on the pitch. The proactive work has definitely helped there.
"We are a little bit heavy numbers-wise. A consequence of that will be players wanting minutes who won't be able to get them so easily.
"That's where there needs to be some conversations behind the scenes, about being quite clear and transparent. That means those players can explore opportunities when they come".
This summer transfer window has seen Norwich sign a range of players across the pitch, including forwards Mathias Kvistgaarden and Papa Amadou Diallo.
The Canaries have also said signed two centre-backs, goalkeepers and defensive midfielders.
In addition to this the club has also added experience to their ranks, including 32-year-old Premier League winner, Jeffrey Schlupp.
Norwich have also lost two high-profile players, Jonathan Rowe and Borja Sainz.
Rowe had been loaned out to Marseille at the start of last season and was sold in this window for over £12 million.
Sainz left Norwich for Porto, last month. He was sold for £14.25 million.
The future of the club's start striker, Josh Sargent, is unclear. The US national was said to be on the verge of leave the club for Wolfsburg in Germany this window, but the deal there fell through.
The summer transfer window closes on September 1st.
