Norwich City striker Ashley Barnes is set to miss this weekend's trip to Plymouth and could be out for several weeks with a knee injury.

The 33 year old picked up the knock during the 2 - nil home defeat to Leicester in midweek.

Speaking to the media, manager David Wagner said: "He has a medial ligament knee injury, does not need surgery but we'll miss him for a few weeks. It'll be after the November international break."

Wagner also provided updates on Norwich's other injured stars.

"(Josh Sargent) got the stitches out. Everything is perfect so far, first step is done.

"The boot comes off (Marcelino Núñez) beginning of next week, before the October international break is quite tight. After the international break, we will have to see.

"It was another step in (Borja Sainz') 'pre-season'. He'll play 45 minutes tonight against Everton. I have him in my head for minutes against Fulham.

"He is desperate to play, it's different playing with the Under-21s. Some of the runs he made right, he didn't get the ball."

Speaking on this weekend's game, Wagner said: "Since yesterday, we've looked forward to Plymouth, a difficult game, especially at home. They play some good football a lot of freedom, a lot of fluidity. It's a real test for us after Wednesday."

"Anyone who judges them on the Bristol result would be their first mistake. They made changes away from home, that doesn't count for us. We've learned our lesson from Rotherham away. We've showed that we're better than that.

"It helps if you are clinical, if you don't give them a breather. From the first second, show our strength, play to that. We always have to focus on us first. We have everything to be successful."
