Norwich Airport has celebrated a major milestone with the start of operations from the airport by Ryanair.

The first flights yesterday (Monday April 1) saw Norwich become Ryanair’s 22nd UK airport with the start of three new summer routes.

Ryanair’s brand-new Norwich Summer 2024 schedule is said to be delivering:

• 3 new routes – Alicante, Faro & Malta

• 12 flights per week to/from Norwich

• 60,000 passengers in Summer 2024

• Over 60 new local jobs

The inaugural Ryanair flight took off for Alicante on Monday morning (April 1st) and was followed later in the day by flights to Malta and Faro.

It's hoped Ryanair’s new Norwich operation will bring in tourism for the region and create more than 60 local jobs.

Richard Pace, Managing Director of Norwich Airport, said: “We have been looking forward to this important day for the airport and our customers and we are delighted to now be celebrating the start of Ryanair’s first services from Norwich Airport.

“The twice-weekly flights to Alicante, Faro and Malta are good news for connectivity for the region and offer increased choice for passengers from their local airport.

“Our operational preparations, including training for new staff, have gone well and we are now looking forward to a busy summer, welcoming passengers taking advantage of the new services on offer to these ever-popular sunshine destinations.”
