It's business as usual for essential Norfolk County Council services over Christmas

Cllr Andrew Proctor, Leader of the authority, said:

"It's been a long, tiring and very unusual year, and while many people are looking forward to a well-deserved break over Christmas, County Council staff working in urgent and essential services will continue to be on duty over the holiday period.

"Our social care staff will be working as usual helping to care for and support some of our most vulnerable people. Highway crews will be continuing their work to keep the county moving safely by following detailed weather forecasts and gritting our roads as well as dealing with any urgent maintenance issues that are reported. Our Fire & Rescue Service will continue to respond around the clock to protect our county, residents and businesses.

"I'm sure I speak on behalf of the county in thanking all of them for what they are doing."

All of Norfolk's full-time recycling centres will remain open as usual; only closing for the three bank holiday days of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. The six part-time sites at Bergh Apton, Docking, Snetterton, Wells, Wereham and Wymondham will also be following their usual opening hours apart from the bank holidays, and 2 January, when they will be closed.

Up-to-date detailed information on all the Christmas opening hours, including for libraries, museums, registration offices and recycling centres is available on the county council's website.
