Fire crews from across both Norfolk and Suffolk were called to tackle a large fire on a thatched roof.

Emergency services were called to the property near the town of Stowmarket on Saturday night (March 23rd), with responders arriving within minutes.

However, fire services in the local area were not enough to bring the fire under control and thus, brigades from neighbouring Norfolk were brought in to help tackle the blaze.

In total, 75 firefighters worked to put out the fire, with officers working well into Sunday morning (March 24th) to put the fire out.

Giving residents an update, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service released a video of the crews at the scene.

Manager Aeneas Postlethwaite also released a video statement on behalf of the service as the responders continued to work behind him to put out any remnants of the fire itself.

Postlethwaite said: "We are currently dealing with a thatch fire in Stowmarket and we currently have about 75 firefighters - with the support of the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service - dealing with the fire.

"We will be working with the owners over the next day or two to identify the cause, and to support them during this time," he added.
