Nearly 70% of us in Norfolk are more likely to choose a staycation over travelling abroad this summer- according to research from a global car sharing company.

Turo, found that we're currently more likely to stay in the UK- especially due to the current rising cost of living and on-going international travel disruption.

"It really feels like there's a shift toward people saying in the UK"

Xavier Collins is the company's Vice President.

He says this isn't going to change anytime soon:

"It seems like it's something that's here to stay. Maybe people got the taste for it over the last few years and I think particularly with the challenges that we're seeing with airports today, it really feels like there's a shift towards people staying in the UK and exploring some of the great places we've got locally".

"For as long as flights are so expensive, delays at airports are happening, along with huge logistical challenges that people are facing every day to day when trying to get overseas- I think that's a strong tailwind for people staying in the UK and travelling around here".

"More people are thinking about the local options available to them"

Mr Collins also told us that this is benefitting them as well:

"The number of people booking cars on our platform to travel locally, that's grown by 200% year on year- which I think is a testament to the fact that more and more people are thinking about the local options available to them for a holiday and the best and cheapest ways to do this".
