A Norfolk prep school once attended by Diana Princess of Wales is to close down due to financial issues.

Riddlesworth Hall School, near Diss, was set up in 1946 in the Grade II listed former country house.

It was originally a girls' school, but now caters to boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 13.

It's most famous former pupul is Diana, Princess of Wales, who attended in the early 1970s between the ages of 9 and 12.

The school became part of the Confucius International Education Group, which runs schools in China, Spain and the USA in 2015.

In a statement posted on Facebook, school staff said: "What treasured memories we have created over the years and how lucky we all feel to have been part of such a vibrant and nurturing school community."

A statement posted by the school on social media

"To our Parents, we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your support of Riddlesworth Hall. We could not have asked for a more wonderful group of people to have with us through this final week.

"To our staff who have shown the utmost dedication to their beloved school, thank you for your superb attainment in providing a wonderful education for our students.

"It is well known that children remember the teachers and school staff who cared deeply for their wellbeing and put their heart into their work- for this reason our staff will be remembered by so many students, both past and present.

"And to our children, who have kept the heart of Riddlesworth Hall beating, thank you for being such wonderfully creative, inquisitive, hard-working, caring, polite students.

"It has been an absolute pleasure to have taught you and all of us here at Riddlesworth Hall are immensely proud of each and every one of you."
