A police cordon in central Norwich has been lifted after a suspicious object found under a car was deemed safe.

The incident happened around 3.30pm on Thursday, 11 September 2025, on Bank Plain. Police, fire, and ambulance services were called to the scene, and nearby roads were closed as a precaution. Buildings in the area were also evacuated.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team examined the device and confirmed it was not explosive. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Police have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances of the incident. All roads have now reopened and the area is safe.
