A police officer in Norfolk's been fired - after using excessive force towards a 'vulnerable' young person.

During a misconduct hearing, it was revealed Andrew Barton had restrained the young man in a headlock while attending an incident at a flat in October 2022.

The former police constable later handcuffed him to railings, forced him to the floor and left him alone in a police car, handcuffed, for 12 minutes.

Barton tried to justify his actions, saying he was 'concerned' about the safety of the individual and his policing colleagues.

The panel, however, ruled his actions were 'disproportionate and unreasonable', whilst the use of a headlock presented an 'inherent' risk of injury.

He was dismissed without notice.
