Norfolk Police have arrested five people during an operation to target drivers using counterfeit documents.

On Monday 3rd June, officers from the Roads and Armed Policing team come together for an action day in Great Yarmouth, as a part of so-called 'Operation Foxtail'.

During the day, 53 vehicles were escorted to a designated check site, with five drivers arrested throughout the day.

Of those, three were arrested for immigration offences and two for drug driving.

One of the drivers arrested for drug driving was also found to be using false plates.

Police tell us they also seized 10 vehicles and issued 23 Traffic Offence Reports for various road traffic offences.

One vehicle received a prohibition notice.

PC Joshua Preston of the Roads and Armed Policing team said: “This was another successful day in Great Yarmouth.

“The day was very effective, not only disrupting crime on the road network but also taking people without a driving licence, or a roadworthy vehicle, off of the road. These individuals put other people at risk and should not be on the road in the first place.

“We will continue to run Operation Foxtail action days to disrupt organised crime and promote road safety.”
