Norfolk union rep says nurses need improved conditions and 'substantial' pay-rise
The NHS has ranked as one of the main issues among voters this election
A man who represents nurses in Norfolk is telling us that the next Government should improve their working conditions and give them a "substantial" pay-rise.
All of the major political parties have confirmed their plans to increase funding for the NHS - if they win tomorrow's election.
The NHS has ranked as one of the main issues among voters this election, according to research group Ipsos Mori.
"Those things will only get worse without radical change"
Sam Westbrook is from the Royal College of Nursing: "I started my career in nursing in 2010. Since then we have been a gradual decrease in overall money in the system, an erosion of rights and rising waiting lists, during this time.
"If those waiting lists continue to rise, the current lack of access to services, the increasing vacancies and healthcare providers being under increasing strain, those things will only get worse without radical change.
"We regularly hear from members who are desperate to provide a high quality of care, but just can't do that because of either a lack of funding, resources of staff. Having 30 thousand vacancies in the NHS makes a real difference."
