Norfolk and Norwich launch appeal to get every patient a present for Christmas
Donations need to be delivered by December the 5th, due to on-going Covid restrictions.
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are looking to give every patient a gift this Christmas.
They've launched their annual 'Santa Appeal' and are looking for us donate to those who can't be at home this festive season.
This year everything will need to be delivered by December the 5th, due to on-going Covid restrictions.
Louise Cook, Head of fundraising for the hospital's charity says they're looking for gifts, that are suitable for everyone: "We are asking members of the public to either donate online and give us money, so we can go and buy the gift ourselves or actually donate a brand new gift to the hospital.
"The sort of things we are looking for are puzzle books for adults or smelly gifts, like a small bottle of some nice aftershave maybe."
She went on to say the collection isn't just something that kids enjoy: "I started this about five years ago and we're one of the few hospitals that do this for all of our in-patients. We feel it's really nice to do something special for our patients and for our staff as well.
"It's really nice for them to do something fun on Christmas day and Santa will hopefully be making an appearance this year to walk round the hospital, but we shall see how Covid is doing."
Ms Cook concluded by saying the Santa Appeal is designed to create a bit of festive cheer and add some magic to the 25th: "We try and do this every year. Whatever your age, waking up in hospital on Christmas Day is not the best thing.
"We try and raise a smile by making sure that every patient has a little gift to open.
"It's about making sure people remember that they are not forgotten, because you may have family coming to visit you later in the day, but when you wake up it's nice to have something to open."
