Norfolk's newest MPs tell us they'll prioritise the NHS, cost of living crisis and housing
Labour, the Lib Dems and Reform UK won seats in the county in the General Election
As they start their first full week as MPs, some of Norfolk's newest Members of Parliament are telling Greatest Hits Radio they'll be prioritising housing, the cost of living and championing local people.
It follows a momentous General Election for Labour, who won 4 seats in the county on Friday.
"The East of England sometimes gets overlooked but I'll be championing it"
Labour's Alice Macdonald now represents Norwich North: "The things that are top of my mind, which reflects what people have told me on their doorsteps, are health, homes and opportunities.
"Labour on dentistry will set up incentives to get people into areas like ours to be dentists.
"I'll make sure we're top of the list and Norfolk gets a fare share of that."
Alice told us she'll also work on helping local people with the cost of living crisis: "3 in 10 kids in Norwich live in poverty.
"We have got to to open up opportunities for young people and create jobs for the future.
"I feel that the East of England sometimes gets overlooked but I'll be championing it, saying we've got so much brilliant creativity and industry."
"They need a local MP that is their champion"
Labour's Terry Jermy ousted former Prime Minister Liz Truss - and now represents South West Norfolk: "I hope my constituents notice a difference. "I want to have regular surgeries and a permanent presence in Downham Market and Thetford.
"I want to be accessible and available for these residents. They need a local MP that is their champion and I will definitely be trying to do that." He also suggested he'll be working to improve NHS services in our county: "No matter where you look in South West Norfolk, there are issues with the NHS.
"Particularly in GP services and dentistry, but also in mental health and hospital provision."
"I'll help rebuild our rural health services"
Lib Dem Steffan Aquarone has been elected MP for North Norfolk: "The number one issue that's come up again and again is the state of our health service.
"Not just at a national level in terms of waiting lists and underfunding of staff salaries, but locally here in North Norfolk too, where we've lost three branch surgeries in the past few years...
"We've got fantastic kit at Cromer hospital and not enough staff to use it.
"People also can't get a dentist appointment for love nor money...
"I'll help rebuild our rural health services."
