One of Norfolk's MPs is telling us he'll be pushing the Government to dish out 'fairer funding' for rural areas and create greater incentives to help local people transition to green technology.

It comes as Parliament returned from it's summer break, this week. A couple of months after George Freeman was elected in Mid Norfolk for the 5th time in July with a majority of nearly 7%.

"It can't all be stick, there needs to be a bit of carrot"

"Areas like Mid-Norfolk have been hit disproportionately hard by the high-energy costs of the last few years. Pubs, small businesses, households and public services fall into that. Every pen, syringe and cup of coffee is likely to cost 20%-40% more here, versus elsewhere.

"There is no way that we're going to be build a proper green economy simply by tax and regulation. It can't all be stick, there needs to be a bit of carrot, as well. I will be pushing the Government to make sure that in rural areas, where emissions are high, that we're not meant to achieve that without incentives or support".

What has the Government said on this?

In their 2024 manifesto, Labour said they would make the UK a 'a clean energy superpower' and also:

-Set up Great British Energy to cut bills for good

-Energy independence from dictators like Putin

-Create 650,000 new high-quality jobs

-Deliver warmer homes to slash fuel poverty

-Ensure Water companies are forced to clean up our rivers
