North Norfolk's MP is asking the Government today about how they plan to help young women who've struggled with their mental health during the pandemic.

Duncan Baker's got two daughters himself and says he's been impressed by how seriously his local community is taking the issue: "We're seeing a number of schools around the constituency having mental health support within their teacher network.

"So they are being trained to being able to have early identification help and support children, which I think is really important.

"To be able to act at the start of any potential issues is better than actually waiting until somebody gets to a point of crisis.

"I know what it's like from my children alone, they crave that social interaction and so from having a period of time when they have just not been able to mix and socialise over the last two years has had a particular detrimental effect on their lives. That cuts across all different aspects of society, but young girls in particular".

He also told us that he's attended many local events that have help educate him on the severity of the issue: "I took part in the MIND charity walk a few months back where they were doing a relay around Norfolk.

"It gave me that platform to talk to other people who had suffered and learn far more about the dreadful problems that people experience".

He concluded by saying the issues is being taken more seriously, but there's still work to be done: "It's by no means there at all yet, but merely just being able to say that actually we have moved heaven and earth to get to a position where there is far more focus than there ever was before can only be a good thing".

He'll be questioning the Minister for Women and Equalities, Liz Truss, today just before noon.
