One of our local politicians has criticised a public consultation on the future of medical care in Norwich.

Clive Lewis is worried the city's walk-in centre's could close if that's decided in a review into how local GP services operate.

The Labour MP for Norwich South has told us a range of treatment options need to be available:

" They need a functional A and E service , they need a functional , fully operational GP service and they need a walk in centre.

" And , you know, I don't think people should have to choose between one or the other. "

NHS Norfolk and Waveney has told us it's looking into options as it looks at how care may be managed in the future. But its thought some services could come to an end by Spring 2024.

Clive Lewis says the city needs a walk in centre and that removing it would be problematic for the region:

" It would be counter- productive to over all care provision across Norfolk, primary health care provision across Norfolk if that closes down" ,

So far, the petition held by campaigners to stop the closure of Norfolk's walk in centre has over 2300 signatures and has been handed to County Hall for consideration ;with just a week to go till the public consultation ends.
