Norfolk football match abandoned over racial abuse claims
Sheringham FC were facing Easton FC in a pre-season friendly.
A football match in north Norfolk had to be abandoned, over claims racist abuse was directed at a player.
Sheringham FC's pre-season friendly with Easton was called off on Tuesday night.
Sheringham say the abuse came from a member of the public who has no connection to either club.
After the game was initially paused, and the alleged abuser was asked to leave the ground, the decision was eventually made to abandon the match.
The club says the incident has been reported to Norfolk Police and the local FA.
The statement added: "Both clubs are supporting players and those that attended the game that were affected by the incident.
"The immediate action taken demonstrates Sheringham Football Club's zero tolerance approach to any form of racism or discrimination in football."
Easton FC have released a statement, thanking Sheringham for their swift response.
"With the matter now in the hands of both the police and football authorities we hope to see this matter dealt with as is appropriate," it said.
"Thank you to both Sheringham FC, their supporters, and the match officials for their swift response and intervention."
