Norfolk family pay tribute to motorcyclist killed in crash involving Suffolk-based US servicewoman
33 year old Matthew Day died in a crash on the A10 a year ago - over which an American woman is charged.
A family have paid tribute to a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Norfolk last year, involving a Suffolk-based US servicewoman.
33 year old Matthew Day, from Southery, was fatally injured on August 26 2022 after a crash involving a car on the A10.
24 year old Mikayla Hayes, a US servicewoman based at RAF Lakenheath, was subsequently charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
Mr Day's family said: “It is a year ago since we lost you. A loving character who could make friends wherever he went."
"A devoted son, brother, devoted father to his daughter and partner. A motorcyclist who loved his bike and would take pride in taking care of it.
“For all who knew him and spent time in his life, we are all lucky to have had someone like Matthew in our lives.
"Unfortunately, we only have pictures, videos and memories left of you Matthew, but we can assure you, you will not be forgotten.
"Your daughter will grow up knowing she had a wonderful daddy, who is looking down on her and keeping her safe.
“We know you will not be coming back and are awaiting the trial in December. We all love you Matthew.”
Hayes, who will face a trial in the UK, has denied the charges against her. She's next set to appear before court on December 11.
