Consultation launched over plans to turn the NNUH into a Major Trauma Centre
It would provide 24/7 emergency access to specialist major trauma care
A consultation's been launched over a proposal to turn to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital into a Major Trauma Centre.
Healthwatch Norfolk's working with NHS England on the consultation to find out what the county's residents think of the idea.
What is a Major Trauma Centre?
Major Trauma Centre is a designated hospital that can provide 24/7 emergency access to specialist major trauma care and manage all types of severe and complex injuries.
Examples of major trauma care include patients who have had traumatic amputation of one or more limbs, patients with a serious head injury and patients who have suffered multiple injuries.
Alex Stewart, Healthwatch Norfolk Chief Executive said “It is important for us to hear what the public understanding of a Major Trauma Centre is and what people think about the proposal for Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to become one.
"This information can help inform any future plans and by engaging with the public at this stage we can help to ensure everyone is heard.”
