Norfolk County Council leader Andrew Proctor says he's stepping back from his job on a temporary basis.

It's as he's having to seek urgent medical treatment. Deputy Leader Graham Plant will head up the local authority in the meantime.

A spokesperson for Norfolk County Council said: “For the time being and with immediate effect for health reasons, the Leader of Norfolk County Council is taking a leave of absence from his roles as Leader of the Conservative Group at Norfolk County Council and Leader of Norfolk County Council.

"This situation has come on quite quickly and he will be undergoing a period of treatment which started on 24 March.”

Andrew has been the leader of the authority since June 2018 and previously served as leader of Broadland Council between 2011 and 2018.
