More than 1,500 props now holding up the Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The number of supports in the West-Norfolk hospital has more than tripled in less than a month due to on-going maintenance work
There's now more than 1,500 steel or wooden props holding up the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in West Norfolk.
The trust says the number has more than tripled, (from 470 supports), since early March due to on-going maintenance work in 56 areas of hospital, including the Brancaster clinic and Maternity ward.
But have told us there's no need for patients to worry, or those with upcoming appointments to cancel.
The West-Hospital hospital is still hopeful of making the Government long and short-list for new-funding so they can build a brand new hospital.
"To have a fit for purpose hospital we need to be on the new hospital list".
Nichola Hunter is their Associate Director of Estates & Facilities.
She spoke to us previously about what happens if they don't get new funding soon: "Then we're going to have to look at Plan B, which will be looking at a different structure and spending a lot of money on a hospital that really needs replacing, which we really don't want to do- we'd rather have that money spent on a new hospital.
"To be able to provide the best service for our patients and staff, and to have a fit for purpose hospital we need to be on the new hospital list.
