Miss Norwich starts competing to become Miss Great Britain
Cheraleigh Van Zanten wants to become a role-model for young women and change how pageantry is perceived
Miss Norwich is hoping to become Miss Great Britain this month, as the finals of the competition starts tonight.
She was crowned Miss Norwich seven weeks ago and has travelled to Leicester for the finals of the national pageantry competition.
The 25-year-old student from Norwich says it's always been a lifelong ambition to win the competition.
She told us that she is competing because she "wants to be an advocate for women to do what they want to do and not have any setbacks".
"We live in a time of social media and where a lot things can put you down and I want to do whatever I can to change that".
She also told us that there are so many negative miss-conceptions surrounding pageantry
"Pageants are not how they used to be. Its a competition now where every women from every different background can compete and do well"
"In this competition, there are rounds from charity and publicity through to personality. It's not normally the most beautiful girl that wins. The winner tends to be the most well-rounded role model".
She concluded by telling us: "I want to do talks in schools and to get more women into pageants to show everyone that there's a different side to it"
