Over £3.5m in Covid-19 grants have been given to vulnerable people in Norfolk during the pandemic to help with things like paying for food and utility bills.

The County Council says in total £3.69m has been shared between 72,832 claims.

It added that 90% of the money went to families with children.

County council leader Councillor Andrew Proctor said: "We acted quickly to ensure that our Government funding was channelled to those who were experiencing real needs during the peaks of the pandemic.

"We've made 72,832 awards of help, 90 per cent of which went to families with children. Help with food and utility costs made up 95 per cent of all awards.

"We kept our admin costs to the minimum, to ensure we could pass the maximum amount to those in greatest need."
