Tibbenham Airfield crash victim named as Martin McConnell
He died on Sunday
A man who was killed in a crash at Tibenham Airfield, near Long Stratton, has been named as Martin McConnell.
The army veteran died on Sunday morning, whilst he was taking part in a day of racing, where competitors aim to reach 200mph.
The event organisers, Terminal Velocity, released a tribute to Martin on social media, saying they're devastated: "I’m sure many of you have already heard the terrible news that a participant at TV21 tragically lost his life on Sunday.
"Martin, Ex Forces PTSD Racing and Suzuki Turbo Racing had become friends of ours having attended several of our events and we are all absolutely devastated that this has happened. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Martin’s family and friends.
"We will not be making any further public comment and there will be no further TV runway days.
"We would like to thank all of you who have participated in our events over the years, and always made them such great fun events, but the idea was always that it was enjoyable for all and that can no longer be the case for us."
Martin's teammates at Suzuki Turbo Racing also shared a tribute: "We lost our great friend, our team boss and our brother in speed, Martin McConnell, whilst racing at the Terminal Velocity 1/2 mile event at Tibenham Airfield in Norfolk.
"We are both lost for words at the moment that someone so larger than life and who worked so hard and gave so much to others has been so cruelly taken away from us all."
