Body of a man found in the River Wensum

A cordon is now in place while police investigate the circumstances around the incident.

Police have confirmed the body of a man has been found in the River Wensum today (9 April 2024).

The discovery was made by firefighters at around 10.20am on a stretch of the river near the rear of Go Outdoors, off Marriott’s Way, following reports of a high-risk missing man in his 30s who was last seen in the Norwich area last night (8 April 2024).

Emergency services including police, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, National Police Air Service were all involved in the search which included drones and fire water rescue boat.

A cordon is now in place while police investigate the circumstances around the incident.

Inquiries are ongoing, the death is not believed to be suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
