Police are investigating after a man in his 70s suffered serious injuries in a collision near Downham Market.

He was flown to hospital following the crash the A1122 Downham Road, near the junction with Willow Heath Road, on Friday afternoon.

A red Hyundai car, travelling in the direction of Downham Market, and a silver VW Caddy van, traveling in the opposite direction, were involved.

In a statement, police said: "The driver of the Hyundai – a man aged in his 70s – was seriously injured in the collision and flown by air ambulance to Addenbrookes.

"The driver of the VW Caddy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.

"The road was closed for several hours but reopened again at 9.25pm.

"Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving or has dashcam footage."
