Man hospitalised after serious assault in Wisbech

He suffered a serious head injury during an 'unprovoked attack'

A man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after an 'unprovoked' assault in Wisbech.

The victim, in his 30s, was targeted by a group of men in Wisbech Market Place at around 3am on Saturday (October 29),

He was knocked to the ground before being punched and kicked.

He was treated for a serious buy non-life threatening head injury.

DC James Bennett of Cambridgeshire Police: “This was a sustained and cowardly attack by a group of men in an area where there were lots of other people socialising on nights out.”

“I am appealing for those people who saw what happened and have information to come forward and speak to us.

"The victim is recovering in hospital, but the results of an attack of this nature could have been far worse.”
