Weeting man who used hidden cameras to film visitors avoids prison
Andrew Wood placed secret cameras inside air fresheners in his home.
A Weeting man has been convicted after secretly filming visitors to his home using hidden cameras disguised as air fresheners.
Andrew Wood, 55, of Montagu Drive, filmed tradesmen and consenting sexual partners in private settings such as his bathroom and bedroom over a nine-year period for his own sexual gratification.
An investigation by Norfolk Police began in December 2023 when an electrician discovered recording equipment in an air freshener placed on top of a cistern. The SD memory card inside contained footage of the victim as well as clips of Wood setting up the device.
Police arrested Wood on suspicion of voyeurism, and a search of his home uncovered two additional air freshener cameras. Digital forensic analysis revealed the extent of his offending, which began in December 2014.
Wood admitted to four counts of voyeurism between July 2021 and December 2023 involving identified victims. He appeared at King's Lynn Magistrates’ Court on 18th November 2025 where he was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
His punishment also included a 30-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, placement on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years, and payment of £239 in court costs and a victim surcharge.
The court also took into consideration 113 additional offences spanning December 2014 to December 2023, as part of his engagement with Operation Converter, a unit investigating undisclosed crimes.
One of the identified victims said: "My privacy has been violated, and the thought of being secretly filmed is sickening."
Another described feeling "disgusted and embarrassed" and said the experience made him anxious about working in people’s homes.
Duncan Etchells, staff supervisor for Operation Converter, condemned Wood’s actions, stating: “This was a terrible abuse of trust towards people Wood had invited into his home and who had no idea they were being filmed either in the toilet or the bedroom.”
