Man dies after being pulled from a river in Thetford

Police say the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A man has died after being found in a river in Thetford.

Police were called at 2.40pm yesterday (Thursday 26th August) by a member of the public who reported seeing a body in the Little Ouse.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was given CPR at the scene before being taken to West Suffolk Hospital.

Despite efforts of medical staff, the man believed to be in his 40s, died earlier this morning.

Police say the death is being treated as unexplained and that a post-mortem will be held in due course.

As a result of previous police contact, the matter has been referred to the Constabulary's Professional Standards Department.
