Man dies after Great Yarmouth robbery
Police enquiries continue after man in his 30s died
A man in his 30s has died following a robbery in Great Yarmouth earlier this week.
The robbery took place on Blackfriars Road at around 4am on Sunday (11th January). Police were alerted later that day after the victim was taken to hospital.
Initially, the victim appeared to have minor injuries and was taken to James Paget University Hospital. However, his condition deteriorated while at the hospital and he died on Tuesday, 13th January.
A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday (15th January), but the cause of death was inconclusive. Further tests are planned to determine the cause.
Detective Inspector Donald Dallas said: “We’re keeping an open mind about what happened as we continue to work on several enquiries to establish the facts. I know this has had terrible impact on the man’s family, and the community and I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch, however small or insignificant you may think it is.”
Osvaldo Semedo, a 26-year-old from King Street, Great Yarmouth, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.
He was charged with robbery and appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on 14th January, where he was remanded into custody.
Police enquiries are ongoing to determine whether anyone else was involved. Officers are urging witnesses or those with any further information to come forward.
