A man has been charged after smashing windows of a car and building in North Norfolk with a golf club.

During the evening of Tuesday 15 October 2024 a police car parked outside Sheringham Police Station on Cromer Road was found to have had its driver’s window smashed and bodywork dented.

Later that day, the window of a North Norfolk District Council office building on Holt Road in Cromer was also smashed.

The estimated cost of damage at both locations totalling approximately £3000.

Following an investigation, a suspect was identified, and a 49-year-old man was arrested and taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where it was established that a golf club has been used in both incidents.

Andrew Griffiths, of Hunworth Road, Edgefield was later charged with two counts of criminal damage; driving while disqualified; and without insurance.

He was released on bail to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on 2 December 2024.
