A man has been arrested for firearm offences after reports a shotgun was fired outside a house in Brandon.

A man in his 40s received what police are calling a minor injury to his leg in the incident on the High Street between 10:30pm and 11pm on Monday night.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, called police the following afternoon – Tuesday 13 December – reporting he had been injured in the leg after a firearm, thought to be a shotgun, was discharged outside his address.

Police describe the injury as minor and the victim did not require hospital treatment.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Detectives are understood to believe that the victim and suspect are known to each other and that this was a contained incident with no wider threat to the community.

Police conducted a search at a property on Riverside Way in Brandon in connection with the incident and have seized a number of firearms and ammunition from the address.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to make contact, with a focus on dash cam footage taken on the High Street between 10:30pm and 11pm.
