Man appears in court charged with Walcott murder

A man was found with serious burns in Coastline Village, and died in hospital

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after the death of a man who was found with serious burns in Walcott.

Emergency services were called to Coastline Village at 5pm on Sunday (7 December) to reports of a dispute.

The victim was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out. The victim has provisionally been identified as 73-year-old Robert Button of Coastline Village.

Christopher Brooks, age 40, of Coastline Village, Walcott, has been charged with murder and criminal damage in connection with the incident.

He appeared at Norwich Crown Court this morning (10 December). A provisional trial date has been set for 8 June 2026.

Brooks has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 9 February 2026.
