Mammoth Marathon returns to North Norfolk for first time in 32 years
There'll be runners taking place in a marathon and half marathon that start at 9:30am
The Mammoth Marathon is returning to North Norfolk for the first time in 32 years today.
There'll be runners taking place in a marathon and half marathon, that will begin at Sea Palling and Mundesley, respectively- from 9:30am and end just before 11am at Sheringham High School.
Colin Brown is North Norfolk's Sports, Recreation and Countryside Manager- who's been helping to set up the event.
He's glad the finish-line is now in sight:
"It's been a lot of hard-work, there's lots of things that people don't realise that you're dealing with and there's been a lot of long days, especially over the last few days. But hopefully it will all be worth it and we've put a lot of planning into it before the original date in 2020, so we were in a position to just pick it up and run with it. Hopefully we've done everything we need to do to make it a great event".
"The route's are both following the beautiful North Norfolk coast along to our finishing village in Sheringham, where the runners will hopefully be greeted by friends and family, who will come to see them cross the finish line. We'll also have lots of food stalls and music playing for them while they wait".

He's got a special message for those who are thinking of coming down to watch: "Anybody who wants to come down and spectate is obviously more than welcome. We're just advising people to plan their route and their spectating points ahead of the day. Obviously, we're on an open-road race, so try and avoid that road on the day and make sure you know about the spots of where to park, watch and cheer people past. I know the runners will be really grateful to see people out and about".
Mr Brown told us that the long-term future of the event is still yet to be decided: "The plan was always to organise this one to start with. We'll then have a big de-brief here at the council to see how it went and then we'll decide whether this will be an annual event, a bi-annual event or just a one off".
