Police have bailed two men in connection with an incident in Lowestoft at the weekend.

A number of officers, including armed units, were in the London Road South area from around 10.40am as part of inquiries into an ongoing investigation.

A 38 year-old man was arrested at around 1.45pm on suspicion of firearms offences.

Police remained on the scene while looking for a second suspect after the road was reopened.

At around 2.50pm, a 37 year-old man handed himself into police at Lowestoft police station and was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

No one was injured and police say they are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident.

Both males have now been released on police bail to answer on Monday 25th October.

The incident led to a number of road closures in the town, which have all now been lifted, and also disrupted a number of bus routes locally.

Police say their armed units have now been stood down, but police remain in the area as their enquiries continue.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call police on 101.
