Lowestoft man pleads guilty to dangerous driving
He'll be sentenced at a later date
A man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving in Lowestoft.
It follows an incident on the afternoon of Wednesday 14 April where a vehicle rammed two police cars and three cars belonging to members of the public before crashing into a railway crossing on Victoria Road. The suspect then made off on foot. No-one was hurt.
On Thursday 6 May a man, aged 24 and from Lowestoft, was arrested and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre. Tommie Pearmain, from Southfield Gardens in Lowestoft, was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He was remanded in custody.
On Friday (7 May 2021) he appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to all charges. He was then remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court at a later date for sentencing.
Sergeant Lee Simons of Operation Sentinel said:
"The manner in which Pearmain drove that day put members of the public and police officers in great danger. His reckless actions caused thousands of pounds worth of damage and occurred in the middle of a busy town. His attempts to evade capture shows his reckless attitude, and the determination of the Op Sentinel officers in their efforts to track him down and his ultimate early guilty plea makes me very proud of my team's professionalism."
