Lowestoft gets £4.3m from budget to revamp seafront
It will see a new cafe and changing rooms built on Jubilee Parade
A project to regenerate part of Lowestoft's seafront received a funding boost of more than £4m in yesterday's budget.
East Suffolk Council will use the £4.3m for restoration work on Jubilee Parade near the Eastern Edge beach huts.
It will see the construction of a new building including a café as well as changing facilities and toilets.
It's one of 16 regeneration projects across England awarded funding by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt yesterday.
The town has already received almost £25m worth of cash from a 'Town Deal'
Steve Gallant, Leader of East Suffolk Council, said:
“This is fantastic news for Lowestoft and further underlines the growth opportunities for the town and the improved prospects for its communities.
“Our commitment to Lowestoft has already seen a major programme of regeneration works move forward at pace, with the Town Investment Plan and Town Centre Masterplan unlocking £24.9million in Towns Deal funding to deliver and support five key projects.
“This further funding success shows that Lowestoft is seen as a town of great potential, and I couldn't be more delighted.”
