Lord Mayor of Norwich taking on the Norfolk Marathon for food poverty charity
Over a thousand runners are expecting to being taking on the Norfolk Marathon, today

The Lord Mayor of Norwich is one of those taking on the Norfolk Marathon, today- in an effort to raise money for a project, which tackles food poverty in the county.
The over 26 mile long challenge gets underway at 9.30am in Cromer and sees runners head towards North Walsham and later finish in the town where it started at around 3.30pm
"People are struggling to put food on the table, right now"
Dr Jan Sheldon is Sherriff of Norwich and has helped picked Nourishing Norfolk initiative for this.
She told us more about the work they do:
"The project aims to make sure that people don't suffer food poverty. So, there's a wide range of options from which people can choose from. There's social supermarkets to community fridges and food hubs. It's really important because people are struggling to put food on the table, right now".
"He's aiming for a time of 4 hours and 30 minutes"
"The Lord Mayor has been training incredibly hard and when you're working, in this role and trying to do that as well, it's quite the challenge. He's optimistic and hopes to finish with a better time than he did in the London Marathon last year. So, he's aiming for a time of 4 hours and 30 minutes.
"The Marathon is great at putting Norfolk on the map. It's great that the marathon is a bit different to others. Hopefully it will attract those who have run things like the London Marathon and haven't taken on such a hilly route before",
