The man leading a service to remember the victims of the Holocaust in Norfolk today is telling us it's vital that future generations remember this lesson from history.

Events to mark this day are being held in Norwich and Caister, after a service was held in King's Lynn last Sunday.

Those living in and around Great Yarmouth are invited to join the service at the Caister Cemetry on Ormesby Road from 11am, today.

The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day this year is the fragility of freedom.

"Freedom is fragile"

Reverend Albert Cadmore is leading the event:

“We need to hand on the legacy of the awful things that happened to the next generation, we have to keep them informed. Only by being informed about that past can we learn from the past.”

Cadmore said, “Freedom is fragile.”

“We’ve seen around the world in the past year how people who have been going about their ordinary lives in a state of freedom as far as they knew it, and things have changed almost in an instant.”

“We can all look back on the horror of those times (the Holocaust) and reflect on how many people around the world today face restrictions to their freedom.”
