If you're having a Halloween get togethers tonight, you're being urged to swap out any candles for LED tea-lights.

The message comes from Norfolk Fire & Rescue, who have told us they normally see a rise in callouts during this time of the year.

"There have been a number of serious incidents"

Terry Pinto is one of our fire-fighters.

"LED candles or tea-lights provide a very safe alternative compared to naked flame candles and they are very energy efficient, as well

"Most people in Norfolk are quite cautious and they listen to the advice we give. But nationally there have been a number of serious incidents where young children's costumes have caught fire, along with decorations.

This has destroyed some homes and unfortunately caused some really serious injuries to people. We are hopeful that people will remain safe, and we won't have to attend any of these incidents".

"Make sure that you are buying them from reputable suppliers"

"Especially if you've got young children and you're dressing up in outfits, make sure that you are buying them from reputable suppliers. Be careful because a lot of the materials used for dressing up outfits and costumes can be highly flammable. Especially with the ones that are flowing, they can easily catch alight on naked flames".
