King's Lynn Town are to pay their ladies players for the first time - under a big shakeup of how the team is run.

Before now the squad would only get support with their training and matchday costs, but now the team is now getting a players' budget.

Manager Grant Palmer explained why they've taken the step now: "When I joined the club as ladies manager, I soon realised we were still a step or two behind other clubs at our level in certain areas and spoke to the Chairman about some initial ideas that could be addressed to close this gap. He agreed and even enhanced the offer to ensure I had the tools to do this.

"We both agreed that this is not a quick fix but something which needs to be viable and sustainable to protect and develop the Ladies team as we progress through this league with the aim to reach the National League over the next two/three seasons."

The additional support comes in the shape of:

A playing budget for the team.

An incentive budget to reward success on the pitch.

Funding for additional training time and improved facilities.

New match kit for both players and coaches, and additional equipment to support their training programme.
