King's Lynn Christmas lights have been turned on, with local Ukrainian families taking the lead with the switch-on this year.

A number of families from Ukraine have sought refuge in West Norfolk since the outbreak of the war earlier this year.

The children of the families entertained crowds on Sunday night with some traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols.

Mayor of King’s Lynn Councillor Lesley Bambridge, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people in good cheer at the Christmas lights switch on in King’s Lynn, which is always a special event in the local calendar.

“We were also privileged to enjoy traditional Ukrainian carols from some of the children who have made our borough their home this year.

“Thank you to everyone who came along to make it such a special event, and particularly to all those involved in staging this festive fun!”

Entertainment also included the free lantern parade and the Miss Jones Trio and Bear Club
