King Charles III has unveiled plans to tear up the lawn at the Sandringham Estate, replacing it with a climate friendly garden.

The new 'Topiary Garden' will go on the site of a formal garden dating back to the 1800s, in an area of the estate once used to plant crops for the 'Dig for Victory' campaign during World War II.

The Topiary Garden will incide a mix of new plants and flowers as well as a maze of new pathways covering the former west lawn.

Work on the new garden will commence next Monday (January 23), with work lasting until May this year.

Sandringham reopens to visitors during the February half term, meaning the west lawn area will be fenced off and diversions will be in place for visitors.

King Charles is well known for his passion for the environment and biodiversity and the project marks one of the most significant changes to the royal estate since his proclaimation in September 2022.
