Norwich man charged over university Just Stop Oil protest

A man from Norwich has been charged with criminal damage after allegedly taking part in a Just Stop Oil protest during graduation at Exeter University.

25 year old Edward Whittingham has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and breach of his bail conditions.

East Devon's MP has criticised the protestors, saying fee-paying students should have been able to celebrate their achievements.

A spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to Exeter University on the afternoon of Monday 17 July, following reports of a protest on the site. Units attended and arrests were made.

"Two people have since been charged in connection to this incident.

"Kostja Junglas aged 27 from Oxford has been charged with breaching her bail conditions.

A second person, Kostja Junglas, aged 27, from Oxford, has been charged with breaching her bail conditions.

"Edward Whittingham aged 25 from Norwich has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and breach of his bail conditions.

"Both are due before Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 18 July."
